In an Eastern Rose Garden
This seventh volume of our Sufi Message series addresses subjects such as freedom, friendship, intuition, willpower, the mystery of breath, democracy, and human wholeness. From Pir Zia Inayat Khan’s introduction: “To spend time among the parterres of this book is to come away refreshed, inspired, and grounded anew.” An opportunity to read this text alongside Pir Zia Inayat Khan’s illuminating Sunday talks begins October 5th

“It is not a desire of the Sufi Order that all should become members; but the ideal of its members is to invite humans to become members of humanity. Sufism is not a new religion or community; it does not want to add a community to the world. It is an attitude toward life, not taught by any particular principle or dogma; it is to tune oneself to a certain pitch, that the heart can become tuned to God.’”—Hazrat Inayat Khan
from the chapter “Spiritual Democracy.”

What makes the Centennial Edition series of the Sufi Message unique?

Why has Sulūk Press been issuing a new series of Sufi Message volumes, and what is unique about the Centennial Edition series? This series prioritizes faithfulness to the integrity of the original talks, with the exception of modifications for inclusive language. Following the basic form of the orange volumes from the 1960s, we locate the original lecture transcriptions in the Complete Works for each text to use as our starting point. In Pir Zia Inayat Khan’s words from his Introduction to the series in Volume 1 “The changes that have been made have not been made lightly, but rather with full awareness of the gravity of altering, even slightly, the Pir-o-Murshid’s words. Every effort has been taken to avoid interrupting the music of his speech.” We consider our series to present Inayat Khan’s unvarnished teachings in a form that balances fidelity to his original words with sensitivity to the contemporary evolution of the English language.

Revised and Expanded Edition of Gayan, Vadan, Nirtan
We will soon open pre-orders for the revised and expanded edition of Gayan, Vadan, Nirtan, which is close to completion. After being out of print for several years, we are bringing back this popular black-and-gold hardcover volume. This version includes previously omitted sayings that new archival research has authenticated. The sayings are being minimally edited for inclusive language, following the practices carried out in the Centennial Edition Sufi Message volumes.

From the Foreword: “If the twelve Message volumes represent the body of Hazrat Inayat Khan’s Sufi teaching, the trilogy of Gayan, Vadan, and Nirtan form its beating heart. In the sayings, poems, and prayers that make up these three books, the very essence of the teacher’s message is contained.”

Toward the One by Pir Vilayat Inayat Khan
Toward the One was a unique book produced in the 1970s by a group of artists and murids working as a team. The original book is an inspiring and wide-ranging work with hundreds of images and text drawn from Pir Vilayat’s lectures as well as original material dictated by him for this book.

The subjects covered include everything from physics to mysticism, with chapters on, among other topics, meditation, breath, light, zikr, the New Age, gurus, psychedelics, resurrection, love and relationships, initiation, the Sufi silsila, and counseling. Also included are prayers and core practices. To commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of its original publication, Sulūk Press is pleased to bring out an updated reissue of this seminal book.
