The Complete Works of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan 1926 II: March – May

Original price was: $56.00.Current price is: $28.00.

A complete collection of talks by Inayat Khan during the final leg of his 1926 visit to the United States.

This volume continues the lectures given by Inayat Khan in America during his last visit there. These lectures were exceptionally long and full, and represent a culmination of his public teaching. The previous volume (1926 I) included the 65 lectures delivered up until March 12, 1926, concluding in San Diego. This volume contains the 54 lectures he gave on his return journey, from mid-March through the end of May, beginning in Los Angeles, with stops in San Francisco, Chicago, and Detroit, before arriving in New York. The lectures were transcribed by his secretary Kismat Stam, so our record of the lectures is strong. These lectures, some not previously published, will provide a rich trove for those interested in the details of Inayat Khan’s teaching. They also indirectly provide a colorful picture of the tumultuous spirituality of his audience—the Americans of that day.

Description

The Complete Works of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan
1926 II March–May
Original Texts: Lectures on Sufism

This new volume, 1926 II, in the Complete Works of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan continues presenting the lectures he gave in America during his last visit there. Volume 1926 I included the 65 lectures from December 1925 to March 12, 1926, in San Diego, California; this volume contains the 54 lectures he gave on his return journey, from March 14 through the end of May 1926. These lectures were exceptionally long and full, and represent a culmination of his public teaching. His return journey began in Los Angeles, then San Francisco, then Chicago, Detroit, and New York. The lectures were all taken down by his secretary Kismat Stam in shorthand, but she soon wrote them out in longhand as well, so our record of the lectures is strong. Many of these lectures have never before been published, and will provide a rich trove for those interested in the details of Inayat Khan’s Sufi teaching. They also, by indirection, provide a colorful picture of the tumultuous spirituality of the Americans of that day, whom he was addressing. All in all, it is a most impressive and varied collection of teachings.
