Sufi Message Volume V Spiritual Liberty and other forthcoming books

Dear Sulūk Press Community,

We know from the many inquiries how pleased you will be to know that the next volume of our Centennial Edition Sufi Message volumesVolume V: Spiritual Liberty is in final stages of preparation and will be available July/August. The volume comprises several early works, including the only book of teachings ever written by Hazrat Inayat Khan, namely A Sufi Message of Spiritual Liberty, published in his first year in London, 1914. Also included are Aqibat: Life After Death; The Phenomenon of the Soul; Love, Human and Divine; Pearls from the Ocean Unseen; and Metaphysics.

From Pir Zia Inayat Khan’s introduction to the volume: “To read volume five is to be transported to the salon of the London khankah. Outside, air sirens shriek at intervals and the mood is bleak. Inside, however, an atmosphere of melody and luminosity is palpable. The inner world has a message for the outer world, but it is a message no ideology can express. Evocation is its allusive language.”

Immortality: A Traveler's Guide by Pir Zia Inayat Khan Front Cover

The series on the Biography of Pir-o-Murshid Hazrat Inayat Khan led by Pir Zia Inayat Khan and a variety of guests concluded a few weeks ago, during which a number of Sulūk Press books were mentioned. These were The Social Gathekas; the two volumes by Nargis Jessie Dowland, student, editor and publisher of Hazrat Inayat Khan, Path of the Seeker I and Images of Inayat by one of the early murshidas, Murshida Sophia Saintsbury-Green; the Sufi Magazines from 1915–1935; and of course, Caravan of Souls. We invite you to explore some of these other titles.

  • Breathtaking Revelations by Drs. Carl Ernst and Patrick D’Silva is nearing its final stages, and we look forward to sharing the cover with you very soon. This book is about the confluence of Sufi and yogic breath practices, by comparing the over six-hundred-year-old Fifty Kamarupa Verses, newly translated by Ernst, with Hazrat Inayat Khan’s manuscript version called the “Science of Breath,” edited and annotated by D’Silva.
  • A reissue of Gayan, Vadan, Nirtan is expected later this year.
  • Also in production are a new book by W. H. S. Gebel No God or Only God, a reissue of The Bowl of Saki, an anthology on the subject “Why Rumi Matters,” and volume 6 in our Sufi Message Centennial Edition series.
  • We continue to run a 50% off sale of most previous Complete Works volumes to celebrate the release of 1926 Vol III and Vol IV of The Complete Works published by the Nekbakht Foundation.

We hope that you can find time in your lives to “sniff the air, prick up your ears, and rove through the dappled light of the forest, fervently giving yourself over to the loamy redolence of the moment” as encouraged in section 96 from Immortality: A Traveler’s Guide. We always welcome your questions and feedback about our books, our website, and your experience ordering with us.

With very best wishes,

Beatrice Upenieks
